Posts Tagged ‘Winners of the National Orientation Agency Essay contest’

So sometime in December 2011, i sent in an entry for the National Orientation Agency, National Essay Competition on “Strategies for taking the fuel subsidy to the highest number of Nigerians” I found the topic interesting because at the time, the debate on whether or not the Federal Government’s plan to remove fuel subsidy was justified. I thought it was an opportunity to join the conversation. Importantly, the essay focused on what the saved funds should be used for and how.

Yesterday, the result of the contest was released and i was pleased to find that of several hundred entries (may be thousands) received, i was a winner. Well not exactly the top prize kind of a ‘winner’ but very close there to the top. The ‘first runner up’ prize sounds as good and i am glad that once again, i have contributed to knowledge and to the solution of the myriads of challenges my country faces.  I thank the National Orientation Agency for this opportunity. I look forward to receiving the award.
